Chapter 2: If We Could Talk to the Animals.....

This chapter is all about the language of energy. Cesar states that a dog doesn't need to be told if you are tired, excited, nervous, or even relaxed, this is due to the fact that they just know. Though they can not tell why you are feeling this way, they just see that in there eyes if your sick your sick. Keep in mind that your energy can not lie to them.
A Calm Assertive Energy: be calm and relaxed but always feel confident that you are in control. You don't need to be panic and over the top. Feeling calm in any situation helps.
A Calm Submissive Energy: This is the energy you want a follower in the dog pack to be like. This can be the healthiest energies a dog in your pack can present to you. Being open minded and willing to learn.
May I Sniff You?: A dog uses its nose for everything. This is how they can discriminate and remember items, or people. They don't use there eyes and there ears for this. The path of the information route is nose- eyes-ears. Keep this in mind when you greet a dog on the street. " A person shouldn't look at or touch the dogs during this process, but the dog should be allowed to surround that person and smell her."

If a dog can feel our feelings can we feel theres?

Earth Dogs on Facebook asked the question: Fact or Fiction Dogs can Feel Guilt?
Some of the comments that were posted:

They do, but it's fleeting as they live in the moment...we can learn alot from our dogs

fact! My dogs will reveal their guilt before I even know anything happened.
 Oh with out a doubt

  • Fact!!! Any dog owner can tell when their pet has been naughty :p
  • I don't know about guilt but definitely culpability! |" Yeah, I did that!"
  • True! Mine has the same look when he didn't hear me coming home and he's in my bed :O!
  • Of course they feel- they can pass of a broken heart - just like humans can......
  • Oh yes they can, and the make me sad when they do that :(
What are your thought on this?
I know both my dogs can pick up on my mood. When I'm sad and crying Spencer just wants to be in my face. Abby just has to touch me. Though her touching me has been a big habit lately! I know Ive been working way too much.
When we are at the trials, my dogs and my friends dogs are much different than its just us working because we are stressed. Guess we all need to learn how to be more calm- assertive with our dogs. Learning how to fake it till we understand that might be interesting :)

  1. I think dogs are really empathetic; I agree they can read our emotions and even our physical health. there's nothing like a good snuggle with your dog when you are feeling low.
